Rob Wegner: "Marching Off the Map"

Andy is incredible. What a timely message for us. I think both as a department and as an entire church, we have the greatest need for leadership because we are marching off the map. I think it emphasizes the need for two things:

1. We need these kinds of leadership discussions and forums. As leaders, we got to constantly urge each other to press into our relationship with Jesus foremost, and secondly, we've got to be sharpening our leadership wisdom and skills.

2. We must constantly be clarifying the vision, praying though the vision, and sharing the vision. We need to bring our teams back to it again again. Like Andy said, "Clarity of Vision will compensate for lack of clarity."

Jack and I are going to send you the 401 values statement again this week. The first page of the document summarizes the big picture vision of our department. Please take 3 minutes and read this again. Then, think about the vision of your specific team and how it fits within that larger picture. Then, deliberately talk that up with your team as soon as you can, as much as you can.

Both locally and globally, we are up to ears in uncertainty. Here at home...none of us have built a community center before. :) Over the next months and years, we're going to see that K00P 65 space become a home not just for the feeding ministry, but a 24/7 ministry center that will mobilize hundreds of people. Globally, I don't think any of us have pioneered a new model of missions before. As we pursue the PEACE plan, we are literally on the cutting edge of a whole new wave of missions that will redefine how the Great Commission is accomplished. We are being invited by Saddleback to be a part of a pilot program that literally thousands of Purpose Driven churches will be invited to join. These are definately God-sized challenges!

But, we're not going to let the uncertainty freeze us up. We'll make some mistakes, redirect and correct, and keep pressing forward. I'm glad we're on this journey together. Best of all, Jesus is out ahead of us, calling us into the uncertainty. Let's stay on the heels of our Rabbi.
